Genesis & TSL Software Licensing

Versions 4.5 and newer of Genesis and TSL software implement a new licensing method whereby you can only run a program if there is an appropriate "key file" for it installed on your system.

Instructions

  • Download the "EDAXlicensing.zip" file from the link below and unzip to your computer's C drive. You should now have a file: "HDSerialShell.exe".
  • Run the HDSerialShell.exe, and click the "GetID" button. This will create a file, "computerid.txt" at the root level of your C drive. If there was Genesis software installed on the system, it will display a list of the components currently installed and update the computerid.txt file with the information. Close and exit the HDSerialShell program.
  • E-mail the computerid.txt to the person responsible for creating the EDAX Genesis License Key file(s). (Do not use a Yahoo email address to do this)
  • Depending on your configuration, you will receive "Genesis.edx" or "GenesisRemote.edx" key files for Genesis software and/or a "GenKey.edx" for TSL software. These key files need to be placed at the root level of the C drive.
  • Genesis and TSL software licensing behave slightly differently. The Genesis software cannot install or run without the key file; the TSL software can always be installed but only those options purchased will be enabled.
