Introduction
EDAX Inc. is the leader in EBSD and OIM^TM analysis. Since the founders of TSL (acquired by EDAX in 1999) introduced Orientation Imaging Microscopy (OIM™) in 1994, it has rapidly become a standard microstructural characterization tool in hundreds of universities and industry laboratories throughout the world. The data collection strategies and suite of analysis tools in EDAX's OIM^TM software are unparalleled and offer a powerful set of characterization algorithms to the user.

To ensure that EDAX's users achieve the maximum performance from their systems, EDAX offers a dedicated EBSD course. This course is intended for EDAX customers and for those intending to use an EBSD system in the near future. Participants are expected to have only a minimal knowledge of crystallography.

Course Contents

In two and a half days a wide variety of topics will be discussed including:

• Basic crystallography concepts used in EBSD
• EBSD collection hardware
• EBSD pattern acquisition, material files, calibration and indexing
• Phase identification
• Advanced data processing

Classes will be organized as tutorials, hands-on SEM-plus-EBSD operation, and computer classes.

Facilities
The computer classrooms provide a sufficient number of modern computers with OIM^TM and Delphi off-line software available. The hands-on sessions are held on-site at a digital SEM equipped with a combined EDAX Pegasus (EBSD & EDS) analysis system. The classes will be given by experienced EDAX personnel using excellent teaching material.

Language
Teaching material, classes and other events will all be in German.

The maximum number of participants for the EBSD course is six, and assignment will take place on a first come, first serve basis. All registrations will be confirmed as soon as possible, together with more detailed course information.

Costs
Included in the price is the course itself, all lunches, refreshments, and one social evening. 
EBSD Course 2.5 day is €1750 plus VAT, excluding travelling costs.
Pegasus Course 5-day (2.5 days of EDS and 2.5 days of EBSD) is €2750 plus vat, excluding travelling costs.
