Pattern Region of Interest Analysis System (PRIAS™) is a synergistic new imaging technique to visualize microstructure and provide exciting new views of your materials. PRIAS™ enables users to quickly characterize materials without requiring full EBSD pattern indexing. Through a novel use of the EBSD camera, PRIAS™ provides as many as 25 positional electron detectors to allow unprecedented flexibility in image collection and visualization. Applications of PRIAS™ include traditional EBSD materials such as metals, ceramics, semiconductors, and minerals as well as new analysis of plastics and glasses.

  • PRIAS™ Live: Dedicated mode for fast microstructural imaging with 25 positional detectors available.
  • PRIAS™ Collection: PRIAS™ data automatically collected simultaneously with EBSD mapping data using 3 preset detectors.
  • PRIAS™ Analysis: Powerful analytical analysis of EBSD pattern intensity distribution coupled with direct correlation with measured crystallographic orientation and phase information. This mode includes full control over detector positioning.
Advanced Image Processing Capabilities

PRIAS™ has a comprehensive toolbox for processing, coloring, and extracting useful information from the images generated from the multiple positional detectors available.

  • Orientation and topographic contrast images can be selected from the 25 positional detectors. A weighted subtraction approach can be used to produce a processed image which highlights the contrast between phases.
  • Greyscale and color images can be created using any of the 25 positional detectors. Both static and dynamic background processing can also be applied.
  • PRIAS™ detector signals can also be computationally compared, and the difference displayed as greyscale or colored image. This allows quick identification of the grain boundaries and microstructure and can be used for a rapid estimation of grain size.
PRIAS™ and Transmission-EBSD

PRIAS™ is also compatible with Transmission-EBSD (t-EBSD), and can provide additional levels of detail from electron transparent samples.
