The standard features of EDAX Imaging and Mapping software include spectral, image and map collection. Fundamental image enhancement, processing and measurement functions are also included. Elemental maps, however, present a broader range of challenges in how the images are created, processed and eventually displayed or reported.
Most maps are created using regions of interest (ROI), either on the fly or with post processing of spectral mapping data. How these ROIs are defined can markedly effect the resultant maps. The presence of high background, low singnal/background, overlapping peaks, etc., can all add complications.
EDAX has also developed some of the most advanced and fastest algorithms for doing quantitative analysis, which have been integrated into our mapping applications. By virtue of doing this, we provide a far greater range of possibilities for dealing with less than optimal mapping situations. The links below explore going beyond simple ROI maps.
